006 – A Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist with a Heart of Gold

Angela Hucles Mangano is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist for U.S. Soccer, two-time FIFA World Cup Bronze Medalist, former professional soccer player of the Boston Breakers and the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s 2009 Humanitarian of the Year. She’s also a proud alum of the University of Virginia where she currently sits on the University’s Board of Visitors, an ESPN & NBC soccer analyst & sports commentator who’ll be calling games for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and a founding owner in the newest NWSL expansion team, Angel City FC. Oh, and she’s also a wife, a mom, and a really, really amazing human.

Our conversation is really raw and honest from the moment we start chatting. Angela shares what it was like being a black, female, member of the LGTBQ+ community vying for a spot on the number one women’s soccer team in the world. Angela also talks about a very pivotal moment in her life when she really felt like this game of soccer was something she could really do. And, of course, we talk about what it feels like to win TWO Olympic gold medals with her first coming in Athens, the birthplace of the modern day Olympics.
